How to Remove an Owner from Your Google Business Profile

If you’re the primary owner, you can remove any other owner or manager in Business Profile settings → People and access. If someone else is the primary owner, you must either have them transfer primary ownership to you first, or request access from Google.

Who Can Remove Whom?
| Your role | Can remove managers? | Can remove owners? | Can remove the primary owner? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary owner | Yes | Yes | Transfer first, then they can be removed |
| Owner | Yes | No | No |
| Manager | No | No | No |
How Do I Remove a User?
- Open your profile while signed in to the primary owner account.
- Choose the ⋮ menu → Business Profile settings → People and access.
- Select the person, then Remove and confirm.
What If an Old Agency or Ex-Employee Is the Primary Owner?
- Ask them in writing to transfer primary ownership to your email address.
- If they refuse or don’t reply, search your business on Google, choose Own this business? / Claim this business, and request access. Google emails the current owner.
- If they don’t respond within the time Google gives (usually about a week), you may be offered the option to verify and take ownership yourself.
How Do I Stop This Happening Again?
- Always keep primary ownership on a company email you control.
- Give agencies manager access only.
- Review People and access every 3 months.
