Google Profile Views Up but Calls Down? Here’s Why

When views rise but calls fall, people are seeing your profile but choosing someone else or contacting you another way. Common causes are wrong hours, weaker reviews than nearby competitors, poor photos, customers using WhatsApp or the website instead, or AI Overviews answering questions before people click.

| Check | Fix |
|---|---|
| Hours and holiday hours | Update special hours |
| Reviews vs competitors | Steady review requests |
| Photos | Real, recent photos |
| Other contact routes | Track WhatsApp and forms |
| Spam competitors | Report guideline breaches |
Why are my Google profile views going up but calls are not? Views count every time your profile appears, including for searches that were never going to become customers: people checking your opening hours, job seekers, suppliers, and searches for a different business with a similar name. More views mean more visibility, but only some of it is for searches that lead to a call.
What should I check first? – Which searches you’re showing for. In the Performance section, look at “Searches breakdown”. If the top terms are your business name or unrelated services, the extra views aren’t buyers. – Your phone number. Make sure it’s correct, answered, and that calls from Google aren’t going to a voicemail that’s full. – Opening hours. If you show as closed in the evening or at weekends, many people won’t ring. – Photos and reviews compared with competitors. People look at three or four businesses and call the one that looks most trustworthy.
Are the call numbers in Google accurate? Google counts taps on the call button, not answered calls. Someone can tap, change their mind, and hang up. Others see your number and dial it manually, which Google doesn’t count at all. That’s why we set up call tracking for clients: it shows real calls, their length, and which ones turned into jobs.
How do I turn views into calls? 1. Add services with clear descriptions and, where you can, starting prices. 2. Post recent photos of real jobs and your team. 3. Reply to every review, so people see you care. 4. Use a primary category that matches what people search for. 5. Make sure your website loads fast on mobile and has a tap-to-call or WhatsApp button at the top.
If views keep growing but enquiries don’t, it usually means you’re visible for the wrong searches, or competitors look stronger once people compare. Both can be fixed.
