Edit your profile’s location and drag the pin to your exact entrance, then save. A small move may need re-verification. Check that your address matches your website and directories. A wrong pin sends customers to the wrong place and can affect which searches you appear in.

Why is my Google Maps pin in the wrong place? The most common reasons are a postcode that covers several streets, a new-build address that Google’s map data hasn’t caught up with, or a pin that was dropped roughly when the profile was first created. In the UK one postcode can cover a whole terrace or a business park, so Google often guesses the centre of the postcode rather than your door.

How do I move the pin on my Google Business Profile? 1. Sign in to the Google account that manages the profile and search for your business name on Google. 2. Choose Edit profile, then Location and Business address. 3. Check the address line by line against Royal Mail’s postcode finder. 4. Use Adjust on the map and drag the pin onto your actual entrance, not the middle of the building or the car park. 5. Save. Edits usually show as “under review” first, and most are published within a few days.

Will moving the pin affect my rankings? A small correction to your real location is normal and shouldn’t hurt you. A large move, a new address or a change in business type can trigger re-verification, so make sure you can receive post or record a verification video before you change anything. Never move the pin closer to a town centre or a busier area than where you really are. Google treats that as misleading and it can lead to suspension.

What else should match once the pin is fixed? – The address on your website footer and contact page – Your listings on Yell, Thomson Local, Bing Places and Apple Business Connect – Any industry directories, such as Checkatrade or MyBuilder for trades

If customers still say the sat nav takes them somewhere else, add short directions on your website (for example “entrance on the side road, next to the car wash”) and add a photo of your shopfront to the profile. If the pin keeps jumping back, ask Google Business Profile support to correct the map itself, using the Google Business Profile help link above.
